The anchorage that almost started a war! In 1789, just 11 years after Captain James Cook introduced Friendly Cove to Europe, Spain and England allowed a dispute over the sovereignty of this area to push them to the brink of war.
Your flight leaves from Gold River and cruises down the Muchalat Inlet to the Nootka 
Lighthouse and the remains of the village of Yuquot. Here, Captain Cook was greeted in such a friendly way by the Mowachat residents he called it Friendly Cove. After viewing this important historic site, one of the most notable in British Columbia, you will return via Nootka to Gold River.

Crossing over to Nootka Island, we view Friendly Cove, and then return to Gold River by way of Nootka Sound and Muchalat Inlet.
